Staff education services
Our Physio Co can provide high quality education sessions for you and your staff. We can structure training to meet the individualised needs of your facility and staff.
We provide staff education services on the following topics:
Manual handling - We are flexible in the mode of delivery of manual handling training and can tailor delivery to suit individual needs. Examples of possible options include:
- Non direct care staff – 1 hour “class room” style session
- Direct care staff – 2-hour practical session covering how to move and turn a resident in bed, assist residents to transfer and mobilise, and how to use lifting equipment.
- Direct care staff – 1-hour classroom session covering basic ergonomics and back care, assessment of risk, and risk management.
- Direct care staff – a “train the trainer” program aimed to prepare direct care staff to train others on their team.
Module style delivery : 4 modules, assisting with transfers and mobility, using slide sheets, standing and raising equipment, and mechanical lifting equipment.
OHS – representatives / champions : back care and ergonomics, risk factor identification, assessment and minimisation. Documentation and reporting risk, and injury reporting and management.
F.R.A.M.E : Falls Risk Assessment and Management Education – a flexible delivery module which will help staff with identification and management of falls risk factors. Includes many practical exercises to allow staff to experience some of the physical factors which influence risk of falls (e.g. impaired eyesight). The program includes information on medications which increase falls risk, assessment of environmental factors and medical conditions which affect risk of falling.
Skin integrity and pressure risks and management : 1-hour classroom session to discuss risk factors for developing pressure areas, how to identify and minimise potential risk factors, management of pressure injuries, and relieving and offloading pressure including equipment and aids.
Other topics : seating, wheelchairs and equipment, contracture management.
